Isabelle Shifrin began her writing career as a journalist. She graduated from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism in the mid-aughts and worked for newspapers on the East Coast. After pivoting to fiction, she attended the Iowa Writers’ Workshop, Summer Session and the Underground Workshop. Her short fiction has appeared in The Missouri Review and The Masters Review (to be published, April 2024). In 2019, her flash fiction won second place in The Boise Weekly’s Fiction 101 Contest. Flash fiction pieces have also been long-listed for a Fish Publishing Contest, and short-listed for a recent contest at Fractured Lit.
